Angelo Maione has been in the restaurant business nearly all his life. In 1971, he arrived in New York from Calabria, Italy. The dishes at Aribella are named after people and places in Angelo’s life that shaped his culinary experience, mostly from his childhood in Italy.

The Spaghetti Di Nonna Cristina is named after his grandmother with whom he spent hours in the kitchen helping as a boy. He still draws on her these days for inspiration.

Of course if he named a dish after his grandmother, Angelo would have to name one after his mother. The Gnocchi di Mamma Francesca is named for her and it is as fresh as she would have made it on their farm, raising 7 children. Angelo still visits his mother in Bridgeport, but now he does the cooking.

Angelo invites you to join become a part of his experience; as long as you are under the roof of his Tuscan Villa. Buon Appetitto!

Crave was born in Libby’s mind years before it actually got built. It took her chef, Fabian Delgado, and Libby a year to get it ready. They both had full time jobs, would get out of work, and dream up Crave until late into the night. In 2001, for no particular reason, the landlord for Libby’s boutique approached her about renting the storefront adjacent to it.

Crave found its perfect location in one of the oldest Opera houses in Connecticut. It was built in the late 1800’s, and its unique setting added the allure of what’s been called “a gem in a small town”. There were few restaurants in the area (save for pizza & Chinese), and Libby saw a place to fulfill a lifelong dream. And why not Ansonia? ~ Doesn’t every town deserve a delicious restaurant with great ambiance?
